Shepparton Trot Comment Wednesday

Race One:

OVERVIEW: GILTY BY THE BEACH (8) has performed nicely at his two runs back from a spell and strikes a suitable assignment here. He met a much stronger field and was working to the line nicely at his latest 4th. JETS ART (5) is a promising maiden, which has been placed in two of his three starts to date. He hasn’t raced since May but he has been performing nicely at the trials, the latest effort being a close 2nd behind Hancock’s Hero at Shepparton. He should give a bold showing first up. LIFE GETS BETTER (3) worked hard on the outside of the leader when 5th at Bendigo last outing. She was runner up behind Stanbyme in a race of similar standard at Shepparton on Aug 25 and she is drawn to be prominent throughout. BELLA BRONSKI (2) settled midfield and finished off quite nicely for 3rd at Bendigo last week. It was a handy effort at her first run for the new stable so she is worth an investment from the good draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,4,7

Race Two:

OVERVIEW: IFITSTOBEITSUPTOME (7) was resuming since a Shepparton victory over UPRIGHT (4) in April when he finished quickly for 3rd behind Lochinvar Chief in a mile rate of 1.54.7. He was beaten by a long way last outing but it was a quality field and he is likely to find this assignment to be more suitable. VIVA LA ROCK (6) is resuming since making an error and finishing last of the six runners ($1-70fav) in May but he but he defeated a handy field at a Shepparton trial last week and he has the ability to run a big race. UPRIGHT (4) is a fast beginner and is likely to try and lead throughout. He made an error when leading at Echuca last outing after being runner up at his previous two attempts in the front running role and is worth another chance. ALICE ON THE BEACH (5) is a first starter for trainer Ian Ward, which has shown ability at the trials and is capable of filling a place. OKINAWA BEACH (2) held her ground in fast final sectionals at Echuca last outing and is worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,6,7

Race Three:

OVERVIEW: RADIANT ROSE (2) began quickly and moved up without cover in the early stages last outing. She endured a tough run and battled on well for a close 2nd so she is a winning chance here, particularly if she can find the lead. ARRAPS (1) ran an eye-catching 4th at his debut. He settled four back on the markers, gained a late split and finished off strongly. He is drawn to receive every chance and is worth a ticket each way. BEAU STEELE (6) has shown promise at his three starts to date and should continue to improve with the benefit of racing. He did some work mid-race and battled on quite well for 3rd behind Rambunctious at Echuca last outing. The interesting runner is the former New South Wales pacer OUR ROYS DREAM (3), which joins trainer Peter Cole. He finished 2nd at a Maryborough trial behind Ringer Russ in July so he must be kept safe. WHERES WOOD WOOD (4), ANDRES (5) and WONGA LAKE (7) could all show up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,5,7

Race Four:

OVERVIEW: VIVA LAS VEGAS (9) is a former New Zealander, which worked hard and finished 3rd at his local debut and followed with a victory over a strong field at Maryborough. He is a talented 3yo and he should go well again. NOTORIOUS JOE (1) is a former New South Wales trained pacer, which tried to lead throughout when 4th in a fast mile rate of 1.55.6 at Kilmore last week. He should be fitter from that run and he should be in front for a long way from the pole position. MISS FANDANGO (8) has been safely beaten at her two runs since resuming from a break but she will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and she has the perfect trailing draw behind the likely leader so she gets her chance to improve. IDEAL CULLECT (6) is stepping up in class from his first up victory but he was very impressive and is capable of taking the next step forward. DEAREST (4) has been racing below her best form recently but she will appreciate a drop back in class and has the early speed to be prominent early.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,4,5

Race Five:

OVERVIEW: KALARNEY HEIDI (11) was slow to begin and made up good ground when a handy 4th behind Peregrine Phoenix last outing. She finished quickly to get into 3rd at Shepparton prior and she is nearing a win against this class. ROCKFORD PEACH (4) began quickly to find the lead and was able to hold off the challenge of Double Dot to win at Kilmore last outing. This is a field of more depth but he is a good chance of finding the lead again. MISS TIPSY (12) finished off solidly from midfield when 2nd behind Kyvalley Kyrie at Shepparton last outing. She scored against similar grade in July and she should be finishing off strongly again. WANDA (2) is finding it hard to win a race against class but she is racing consistently. She jumped to the front from the standing start and tried hard when 2nd behind Sultan Sass at Echuca last week. She is drawn to be prominent again so she is not without a chance. MAJIC FAIR (5), BACARDI JESS (7) and THE MAJESTIC (8) all have claims in an open race for the trotters.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,5,7

Race Six:

OVERVIEW: The start of this race is very important with three of the main chances CHISSY (8), ALDEBARAN WILLO (9) and WELL DEFINED (10) all being risky beginners from the standing start. CAABELLO (6) is a safe beginner, has an advantage with the handicaps at the start and is racing very consistently so she should prove hard to beat under the conditions. ALDEBARAN WILLO (9) has been given plenty of room and also time to balance up early at his past two victories. He drops back to a tougher handicap now but he has won five of his twelve starts to date and he has the class to figure in the finish if he is on his best behaviour. WELL DEFINED (10) produced a big performance after galloping away from the mobile start when he came from last to finish 2nd behind Bullion Lady last week. He missed away from the stand when 4th at Stawell prior but he will make his presence felt if he is able to mend his manners. CAPRIOSKA (3) was able to win under similar conditions last week, where she trailed the leader and used the sprint lane. This is a race of more depth but she drawn to receive a similar run in transit now. CHISSY (8) made up a lot of ground after missing away when resuming since April 2019 at Echuca. He trialled extremely well prior and has the ability to show up prominently if he gives a fool proof display.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible early leader), 2,3,

Race Seven:

OVERVIEW: The juvenile pacer HOLI STARZZZ (3) is taking on older and more experienced rivals but she will be suited over the sprint distance and she has had a good season having won four of her seven starts to date. She finished 4th last outing behind the star filly Treachery and the last 800m was run in an amazing 54.3 2nds so she is capable of being competitive against the older brigade. Both ROSLYN GAYE (9) and VILLAGE ENCOUNTER (10) appear to be well graded in this line up but are drawn against their usual racing patterns. ROSLYN GAYE (9) is working back to her best form having been runner up at her last two starts. She races best when she is able to lead but at least the sprint distance is an advantage to her. VILLAGE ENCOUNTER (10) usually tries to lead out then take a trail but she possesses high speed and she should be finishing strongly against this class. MAJOR WISH (2) races best when he is close to the speed and is drawn to give a forward showing. He worked home quite nicely when 4th at Shepparton last week.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,5

Race Eight:

OVERVIEW: LUNAR DELIGHT (3) is an honest mare, which worked hard and finished 4th behind GIANT JACKSON (12) at Echuca last outing. She is better drawn for this assignment and is capable of figuring in the finish. THE LAST CHANCE (2) led throughout at Bendigo on July 28 and is a good chance of finding the lead again. He finished 4th behind Vouchers in a strong race at Kilmore last outing and a forward showing is expected under these conditions. FRANKIE (4) is a handy 3yo pacer and is building up a consistent record. He finished 3rd behind Express Beauty at Bendigo last outing where he trailed up out three horses wide from last at the bell. He is versatile and should go well again. SABREUR (9) won at his first three Australian starts then pushed forward from the second row to race without cover when 3rd behind Shaq ($1-30 fav) last time. He possesses high speed and is worth another chance. It is a race of many winning chances and some of the other leading hopes include CELERINA (5), JEMSOMS PET (6) and TWOFORSIXTY (8).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 4,6

Race Nine:

OVERVIEW: BRAEVIEW FELLA (3) has shown improvement recently having been placed in three of his past four starts. He enjoyed a nice trail, worked into the clear on the home turn and chased hard when a close 2nd behind Cadenza last outing. OFFICIALLY SHADY (7) has performed nicely in two starts since returning from New South Wales. He led throughout to win at Shepparton first up then finished 3rd when setting the speed at Maryborough last outing. It isn’t a fast front line so he is a chance of finding the lead again, despite the wide draw. NOT SO BIG (1) had support on the fixed odds markets and finished quickly from last when 2nd in a field of similar quality last week. She may be headed off at the start but she is worth thought again. HEZA BRAXTON (10) has the ability to be competitive against this class but his manners do let him down occasionally. He will be fitter for two recent trial performances, the latest being a 2nd at Kilmore behind Shesalwaysdreaming. He is a winning chance if puts in a fool proof display. LORD COMMANDER (8) and SASSCILIAN (9) could both show up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (possible leader), 6,7

Race Ten:

OVERVIEW: NATS A CHRISTIAN (9) is working up to a win after a close 2nd behind Payment Plan at Kilmore and a fast finishing 2nd behind Writeaboutjess at Shepparton. She should gain a nice run from the trailing draw and she should be finishing strongly again. IM SHORT AND SWEET (8) had every chance at Kilmore last outing but it was a much stronger race and the time was fast. She sprinted sharply in the back straight and only just failed to defeat Tarzali on her Australian debut prior. MA KATIE (6) finished solidly from a rearward position and ran a very nice race for 3rd behind Honolua Bay when resuming since Feb. She should be fitter from that run and is worth a ticket each way. REALITY WRITER (10) has returned from a spell in good form and has claims along with SAFE JEWELS (11).

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 1,2,3,7
